Cuplock is a modular steel scaffolding system that uses vertical poles (standards) with fixed cups welded at regular intervals. Horizontal poles (ledgers) lock into these cups with a simple hammer strike — no bolts, no loose couplers. This makes cuplock the fastest scaffolding to erect and dismantle on site.
Components of a Cuplock System
- Cuplock Standard (Vertical): Steel tubes with welded top cup and bottom cup at 500mm intervals. Sizes: 0.5m, 1.0m, 1.5m, 2.0m, 2.5m, 3.0m. Each standard carries up to 1.5 tonnes safe working load.
- Cuplock Ledger (Horizontal): Steel tubes with forged blade ends that slot into the cups. Sizes: 0.9m, 1.2m, 1.5m, 2.0m. Ledgers lock with one hammer blow — no bolts needed.
- Base Jack: Screw-adjustable base plate that sits under each standard. Used to level the scaffolding on uneven ground and distribute load to the slab below.
- U-Head Jack: Adjustable fork-head fitted on top of the standard. Supports primary beams (wooden or steel) that carry the shuttering panel above.
- Bracing: Diagonal tubes that prevent lateral sway. Essential for scaffolding above 6m height.

Safety Norms for Cuplock Scaffolding
- Always use base jacks on a firm, level surface — never on loose soil
- Never extend base jack or U-head beyond 300mm of thread
- Add diagonal bracing every 3rd bay for scaffolding above 6m
- Inspect all cups before erection — damaged cups must be replaced
- Maximum free-standing height without tying to structure: 4 lifts
- Follow IS 3696 and EN 12810/12811 standards
